Tuscaloosa County School System blocking Facebook from school devices

The Tuscaloosa County School System is pulling the plug on Facebook for any school-issued devices.
Starting March 10, the social media platform will be blocked on school-issued iPads.
School system administrators said their reasoning is the site is a distraction and news sources found via Facebook can be found directly from news websites.
TCSS Director of Public Relations Terri Brewer said student online safety is the biggest reason for this new rule.
“It’s just security driven,” Brewer said. “We want to be sure to provide the highest level on online security possible for our TCSS students.”
Once blocked from devices, Facebook will be unavailable on or off school grounds for school-provided devices.
