Tuscaloosa County Commissioner Jerry Tingle will now represent Tuscaloosa County on the state level.
Tingle was elected serve on the legislative committee of the Association of County Commissions of Alabama.
His job will be to represent the interests of Tuscaloosa County and to decide which issues need to be tackled in the 2021 legislative session.
Tingle is mostly concerned about the county’s inmate overflow.
“We have a hundred inmates now that are state inmates in our jail in Tuscaloosa County,” said Tingle. “And the state don’t pay enough or promise enough to actually cover the cost of those prisoners being there.”
Tingle represents District 2 which includes Holt, Cottondale, Brookwood, Vance and Coker.
