TUSCALOOSA COUNTY, AUBURN HIGH SCHOOLS COMPETING TO DEFEAT DISTRACTED DRIVING

We all know about the rivalry between the University of Alabama and Auburn University, but now there’s a competition going on between the college towns’ high schools.

The AT&T It Can Wait campaign chose Tuscaloosa County High School and Auburn High School to compete against each other in a challenge highlighting the dangers of distracted driving.

Each school is getting its students to sign pledges against driving distracted. The school with the most pledges signed gets $1,000 that will go to the nonprofit of their choice.

Students also got the chance this week to experience the realities of distracted driving with AT&T’s It Can Wait driving simulator.

“It really opened my eyes because you really don’t think it’s going to happen to you until it happens,” said TCHS senior Ashlyn Hood.

The competition ends Friday.
