Tuscaloosa City Schools returns to masks-optional

When Tuscaloosa City Schools students and staff returned to class this morning, masks were once again optional.

TCS made the decision on Friday, because the system’s two-week average of positive COVID-19 cases among students fell below the 1% threshold for requiring masks.

According to the TCS COVID-19 Tracker, there are currently 10 students among the system’s nearly 11,000 that are quarantined or isolated because of COVID-19. That represents 0.09% of the student population.

Five of the system’s 1,439 employees are quarantined or isolated because of COVID-19, representing 0.35% of employees.
