TUSCALOOSA CITY SCHOOLS: JANUARY SNOW DAY WILL NOT BE MADE UP
The Tuscaloosa City Board of Education has approved a make-up day plan in the wake of Jan. 29’s snow day bust.
Between 1 and 3 inches of snow was predicted, and those potential unsafe conditions led to Tuscaloosa City Schools shutting down for the day.
Superintendent Mike Daria said the board asked for a waiver from the Alabama Department of Education so students and faculty won’t be making up that day.
“We have to evaluate the time in school and the time in class,” Daria said. “This is one day. At this point we are comfortable with where we are, but if it goes beyond one day that’s when we have to evaluate and look at make-up days as a potential option.”
The calendar will continue as scheduled as long as there are no more weather days.
