TUSCALOOSA CITY SCHOOLS BOARD MEMBER BARRED FROM ENTERING JUVENILE DETENTION CENTER
Tuscaloosa City Schools Board Member Erica Grant was barred from entering the Tuscaloosa County Juvenile Detention Center Monday morning.
Grant was not allowed inside the center to speak with the kids. She said she was barred after she was asking the staff questions about the students’ classwork.
Tuesday night, Tuscaloosa City Schools Superintendent Mike Daria said after speaking with Grant about some of the problems she identified at the center, he also spoke with the detention staff.
“We’ve been in conversations this entire year with the representatives of the Juvenile Detention Center to make sure our students are getting the services they need,” Daria said.
School officials say the students will now have their class work every day.
