TUSCALOOSA CITY SCHOOLS BEGINNING FALL SEMESTER AUG. 20

The first day of school for students in the Tuscaloosa City School Systems will be Thursday, Aug. 20.

Tuscaloosa City Schools Superintendent Mike Daria said his team is planning for in-person instruction.

“In person. In school. That’s our ultimate goal and yes we’re planning for that, “ Daria said.

Daria said while in-person learning is the goal, the school system is currently strategizing for multiple scenarios. The superintendent wants educators to be prepared to bounce back to virtual learning if necessary.

“We are also planning for distance learning,” Daria said, “so if we start in August and then have to pull back again we want to be able to have that as seamless as possible.”

Students in the Tuscaloosa County School System will also start classes on Aug. 20.
