TUSCALOOSA CITY OFFERING BONUS FOR NEW BUS DRIVERS

The Tuscaloosa City School System is enticing new bus drivers with a $1,000 sign-on bonus.
The bonus applies for all new drivers hired within the next year, according to the City School Board.
At the moment, the city is facing nine vacancies for full-time driver positions, and three vacant spots for substitute drivers.
New drivers get $500 after their first three months on the job, and then another $500 after their second three months.
The system is also reimbursing drivers who earn a commercial driver’s license — required for school bus drivers. A CDL costs about $237.
