TUSCALOOSA CITY EDUCATORS VISIT NUCOR STEEL

Tuscaloosa City Schools

Tuscaloosa City Schools educators took a tour of Nucor Steel on Thursday as a part of the Educator Workforce Academy – a yearlong training program meant to strengthen the connection between industry and education. After their tour at Nucor today, the educators created an action plan for their schools.

“The way we look at it we are a customer of the school system,” Nucor Steel Controller Reed Norris said. “They produce the teammates that we hire later on and so we absolutely partner with them to give them the skill sets we look for in successful people. So once again we are just their customer.”

Nucor is the last industry tour that the educators will go on this year. They also toured Mercedes-Benz, Z-F Chassis, Phifer Inc. and Mcabee Construction, among others.
