Tuscaloosa City Schools and the Tuscaloosa County School System are changing the way they distribute meals for students, meaning less contact between people handing out meals.

Starting Monday, April 13, the school systems will be handing out meals for the entire week once a week.

The reason for the change is to help curb the spread of coronavirus by limiting interactions between people.

“The buses will come to our schools and collect meals, then we’ll go out in the community,” said TCS Executive Director of Human Resources and Operations Deron Cameron. “We’re able to get more meals on our buses so we can help feed families during this time.”

Cameron said students will continue getting balanced meals with the change. The new schedule is below
