TUSCALOOSA CITY COUNCIL SAYS CONCERT SERIES A SUCCESS

District 4 Tuscaloosa City Councilman Matt Calderone says the live on the plaza concert series was a tremendous success in June.

Calderone says the first event brought in about 200 people, and by the last concert there were over 600 people.

Calderone says he’s currently in planning meetings to see how they will continue the event in July.

The City Council approved the Mayor to go into negotiations on an incentive package for Hotel indigo.

The rebates would come from lodging and ad valorem taxes.

Tuscaloosa will be the first location for a Hotel Indigo in Alabama.

The 20 million dollar, 5 story boutique hotel will be located just east of the Amphitheater.

Construction should take about 12 months to complete.

The Salvation Army received a Proclamation from the City Of Tuscaloosa declaring july third “Salvation Army Day.

This year marks the 150th anniversary of the Salvation Army.

The movement was started by pioneers William and Catherine Booth in London in 1865.
