TUSCALOOSA CITY BUDGET MAKES IT OUT OF FINANCE COMMITTEE

Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox proposed $197 million 2017 Fiscal Year Budget is approved by the Finance Committee Tuesday.

The budget comes with a $1 a month increase for garbage service and 2 percent increase for water and sewer services.

It will also give up to a 3 percent in pay raise to all city employees.

A one time supplement for city employees to help De phrase some of the cost of rising healthcare was also included in the budget.

“It’s a very conservative budget, its based on prior years revenue, it budgets no growth and I think it gives us a lot of flexibility in the coming year” says District 3 Tuscaloosa City Councilwoman Cynthia Almond.

The City Council will vote on the budget Tuesday.
