TPD OFFICER WORKS 35 YEARS WITH NO SICK DAYS
A Tuscaloosa Police Officer is trading in his badge for a boat after 35 years of service.
And that’s not the most impressive part. Captain Michael Flowers has not taken a sick day in the three and a half decades he’s worked for the force. “That’s just how I was brought up,” says Flowers. “You go to work.”
Flowers has served as the commander of the east precinct since it was created in 2009.
He’s also commander of the department’s tactical unit. Flowers says he’s going to miss the people his job connects him to and the daily life of an officer, but he’s certain retirement is something he’ll fall into with ease.
Congratulations and thank you for your service, Captain Flowers.
His last day will be October 4th.
