Members of the Brookwood community came together to help bring some joy to local miners who’ve been recently laid off from the Jim Walters Resources this year.

Event Organizer Heather Bosch started a toy drive called, “Toys for Miners.” Bosch says, the best part of doing all this is to simply see those families effected by the job cuts, smile. She also hopes that parents can get some relief knowing their kids will have a happy Christmas. Bosch told WVUA 23, that the toy drive picked up a lot of momentum after a Facebook post, which led to many of organizations and companies participating in the cause. Many helped collect toys along with donating gift and money.

Now, thanks to hundreds of volunteers and organizations, over 460 kids will be opening presents this Holiday season!
