After losing out on 5-star forward Trendon Watford on Monday afternoon, Alabama coach Nate Oats wasted no time adding another highly touted player to his roster.

Junior college transfer James Rojas signed to continue his career with the Crimson Tide on Tuesday. He is Alabama’s sixth signee and second transfer in the 2019 class. Rojas will be eligible to play immediately once he arrives in Tuscaloosa. The 6-foot-8, 215-pound forward initially committed to play for Oats as Buffalo, but was granted a release after Oats left to take the Alabama job.

Rojas averaged 19 points and 6.8 rebounds per game en route to earning All-American honors at Hutchinson Community College.

“He’s exactly what we’ve been looking for in a player starting with the fact that he’s one of the toughest players I’ve ever seen,” Oats said in a statement. “He’s the ultimate competitor and cares about the team winning first and foremost.”
