Thursday’s storms blessedly light on damage
Thursday afternoon and early evening featured some severe storms blowing through West Alabama. There wasn’t a ton of damage, but here are some areas that were hit:
- Northside High School had their football scoreboard bowled over from heavy winds. In addition, the area’s power went out amid the heavy rain.
- A WVUA 23 viewer spotted a funnel cloud moving through Tuscaloosa from their location on Upper Hulls Road.
- Hail spotted across from Target on Veterans Memorial Parkway.
- Hail spotted in Holt
- Minor damage in the Peterson area
- Flooding caused by heavy rain caused police and fire to block off part of Hackberry Lane near Central High School
The Tuscaloosa Emergency Management Agency reported trees down and flooding around Tuscaloosa County in the wake of the storm. Those areas have since been cleared.
