Temporary Emergency Services looking for teens who want summer jobs
By WVUA 23 News Student Reporter Avery Lake
Temporary Emergency Services is hiring 45 teens or young adults for its summer jobs program. Ages 15 to 21 are eligible, and employees will be stationed at the Boys and Girls Clubs of West Alabama, Tuscaloosa County Park and Recreation Authority or Stillman College. Alongside working 20 hours a week, participants will be working with coaches who can explain that whole “adulting” thing.
“The educational component is where we will have coaches that will talk about being on time, how do you cash a check, how most people don’t receive checks, how you set up a bank account,” said TES Executive Director Karen Thompson-Jackson. “We will go through those life skills components along with having an educational component where we will actually tour some local colleges, help students make sure they have a plan of action.”
Starting pay is $13 an hour and the job lasts seven weeks.
