Teen softball player struck by lightning already back on the field
Haylee Johnson is back on the field after surviving being struck by lightning earlier this month. Haylee’s mom Jorie Johnson said Haylee’s return was all-smiles.
“Haylee had some people come support her in the stands,” Jorie Johnson said. “Haylee said seeing the reactions from friends and other teams and coaches rooting her on made her understand she could turn a horrible experience into a positive one and give other girls hope to keep pushing forward.”
Haylee was struck by lightning earlier this month while participating in a softball tournament in Vance.
Haylee, who’s 13 and lives in Cullman, played five games and made it to the last inning, Jorie Johnson said.
At one point Haylee hit the ball so hard that she broke the bat, her mom said.
