Officers responded to a call about a possible shooting on 23rd Street Sunday around 8 p.m.

When police arrived they found a 14-year-old boy had been shot in the shoulder.

The victim told police that he and a friend were looking at a gun he had found earlier in the week.

His 15-year-old friend handed the gun back back to him when it suddenly went off, striking him in the shoulder.

The boy was taken to DCH Regional Hospital for treatment.
