A teen is facing charges after Tuscaloosa County High School and Northport Elementary School were put on a lockout Tuesday.

The teen, who is not being named because of their age, was charged with making a terrorist threat.

Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Byron Waid said the teen was charged and taken to the Tuscaloosa Juvenile Detention Center after the teen made the off-campus threat against the high school. Waid said no specific person or group of people was targeted in that threat.

While the teen is not being named, Waid did say the teen is a Tuscaloosa County High student.
