TARGET THIEF GETS PRISON SENTENCE
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) – An Alabama federal judge has sentenced a man to about a year behind bars for stealing roughly $72,000 from Target stores across nine states.
Reports say Chavito Ferguson was sentenced Thursday to 12 months and one day in prison after pleading guilty to four counts of wire fraud in September. Ferguson will also have to repay Target what he stole.
An indictment says that Ferguson stole from numerous Target stores, including ones in Alabama, Georgia, Florida, New York, Tennessee, Kentucky and South Carolina.
Authorities say Ferguson used counterfeit licenses and checks to buy expensive items from Target before returning the items to different Target stores for cash.
Ferguson said he regretted his actions.
It is unclear how old Ferguson is and where he is from.
