T-TOWN 200: ELEMENTARY SCHOOL HONORS FIRST RESPONDERS AT SPECIAL BREAKFAST

It was a special morning for local first responders and students at Huntington Place Elementary School.

HPES is one of Alabama’s Bicentennial Schools. Each Bicentennial School completes a project aimed at strengthening the bond between the school and the community. Huntington Place’s project was completed Wednesday morning as they hosted a breakfast honoring and thanking local first responders for serving and protecting the community.

“It is so important for our students to understand that we need the men and women who serve our community and our first responders,” Andrea Hamner, HPES’s principal, said. “We focused this year on keeping out students safe at home, at school, online and in the community. We also focused on how we can help our students stay focused this summer.”

All of the songs performed during the program were either written or sung by men or women with Alabama ties.
