Sumter County man arrested Saturday, charged with attempted murder of state trooper
A man wanted on attempted murder of a state trooper was taken into custody without incident in Sumter County Saturday evening.
Around 9 p.m., 57-year-old Randy Lee Wade of Sumter County was arrested.
Wade is accused of attempted murder of a state trooper assigned to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s Highway Patrol Division on Friday after the trooper stopped Wade for a traffic violation.
The trooper was in the process of arresting Wade on six outstanding warrants when Wade fled the scene, and a statewide “Blue Alert” was issued by the Alabama Fusion Center.
Wade’s charges, in addition to attempted murder, include first-degree escape and second-degree theft of property.
