STUDENTS TAKE SKILLS OUT OF THE CLASSROOM, INTO A RESTAURANT
TUSCALOOSA – Students took their skills out of the classroom today and into a local restaurant.
Fourth-graders at University Place Elementary spent the morning at Taziki’s, shadowing its employees. As part of the Adopt-A-School program, students learned how to work at different positions in the restaurant.
Robin Jenkins, director of the education program at the Tuscaloosa Chamber of Commerce, said the students love to get out of the classroom.
“They’re very excited to be out of school today, as you can tell,” she said. “They’re learning about healthy food, they’re learning about responsibility, and about hard work, and what it takes to run this business.
Taziki’s does this job-shadowing event every year.
