STUDENTS HONORED FOR GOOD CHARACTER AT STUDENT OF THE MONTH BREAKFAST

Six students at Collins-Riverside Middle School were recognized this week for their outstanding performance in the classroom.

Every month, teachers nominate a set of students from each grade level to be named Students of the Month. Parents were invited for a breakfast to help celebrate the students’ achievements.

“I’m happy because I’m glad my teachers seen me do it and recognized me for it,” Bake Christian, a February Student of the Month recipient, said.

This month’s students were humbled by the honor and were happy to be recognized for something that, to them, is just normal everyday behavior.

“I just wanted to say that it pays off to do the right thing. So, do the right thing always, even when no one’s watching,” said Student of the Month recipient Hazel Robbins.

Teachers look for students who show leadership and respect in everything they do.

“We want them to carry themselves as leaders in the classroom, in the hallways, on the athletic playing fields and we think that having this breakfast is one way to show them our appreciation,” Principal Steven Sims said.

The breakfast was put together with help from Adopt-a-School partners Keller-Williams Realty and Regions Bank. Throughout the year, they also facilitate secret meals and backpack giveaways for students.
