TUSCALOOSA – Stillman College is taking its first step toward going green today.
It’s all part of the Toyota Go Green Initiative, which is involved with Historically Black Colleges and Universities nationwide. The movement is designed to educate college students on the importance of improving their environment.
One to two ambassadors are chosen from each college, and Christian Battiste has the honor of leading the project at Stillman.
Battiste is excited for the changes that this project will bring to the school.
“Feels great to be apart of something so much bigger than yourself, something permanent that you help implement” Battiste said. “It feels just great to be involved in something that’s just going to be set in stone that’s going to be carried on year after year.”
The community service project is from 2 to 6 p.m. and Stillman College is opening its gates to community members who would like to lend a hand.
