Stillman College delays basketball games over COVID-19 concerns

COVID-19 is changing the Stillman Tigers’ basketball schedule after several members of the women’s team and a coach tested positive for the virus.

Athletic Director Terrance Whittle said students’ health is what’s most important.

“We just feel like putting those policies in place and those protocols in place, that gives us a return to play protocol,” Whittle said.  “We can make sure they’re safe before they return to play.”

The first three women’s games of the semester were postponed, and one men’s game is postponed. Affected games include:

  • Women’s game Jan. 3 at Blue Mountain College
  • Women’s game Jan. 6 at University of Mobile
  • Women’s game Jan. 8 at home against Faulkner University

The men’s Jan. 3 game at Blue Mountain College was also postponed, but they are playing the University of Mobile Jan. 6 at 7:30 p.m., and are hosting Faulkner University Saturday, Jan. 8, at 3 p.m. at Birthright Alumni Hall.

To avoid the risk of spreading the virus, no fans will be allowed to the men’s game on Saturday. Instead, the game will be available to stream right here.
