STILLMAN CELEBRATES ITS STUDENTS WITH SPRING CONVOCATION
Stillman College welcomed its students back with a special ceremony on Thursday.
It was all part of Stillman’s spring convocation in Birthright Alumni Hall. It’s a liberal arts tradition to hear encouraging words at the beginning of every semester.
The crowd grows larger every year. In fact, enrollment has risen from less than 600 students in 2017 to more than 800 in fall 2019. The president of Stillman College, Cynthia Warrick, hopes this growth will stay.
“We are in the opportunity zone, so I see that you will see new buildings and new businesses on our campus,” she said. “We’re really looking at how we use the opportunity zone to promote economic development not only at Stillman, but for west Tuscaloosa.”
Stillman enrollment this spring continues to rise. They are also hosting eight new students from the Bahamas due to damages caused by Hurricane Dorian.
