Brett Kavanaugh

WVUA 23 Political Analyst Steve Flowers came in to the news station to discuss the confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh and the controversies around it.

Flowers said that there are seemingly two separate countries, a liberal Democratic side and a conservative Republican side and that this same division can be seen on the Supreme Court. With Brett Kavanaugh’s nomination, it would put a conservative in the chair of former Justice Anthony Kennedy who was a moderate, giving power to the conservatives in the court. Flowers believes the vote will primarily split along party lines except for three possible Democratic senators who are running for reelection in red states.
