Traveling professionals and backyard gourmets will find out who can cook a better steak when Grilling in T-Town fires up the burners this Saturday, July 9.

Hosted by Tuscaloosa Tourism and Sports in partnership with the Bama-Q Grilling Series, the official Steak Cookoff Association event will be held at Druid City Social from noon to 5 p.m.

According to a press release, cuts for the competition will be provided by NorthRiver Cattle Company, a Tuscaloosa butcher and meat merchant. A blind panel will taste each contestant’s work, and the first place winner will receive a prize of $1,000.

Cash prizes are also available for 2nd through 10th place winners, along with dessert winners and children’s category winners.

The free event will have food trucks, a sampling tent, local vendors and live music for the public to enjoy.

Serving to promote food sport tourism in Tuscaloosa, SCA organizers invite locals of all skill levels to join the competition.
