STATE TROOPERS DELIVER BEARS TO KIDS STUCK IN HOSPITAL

If you saw a large law enforcement presence at DCH Regional Medical Center today, there was no need to worry.

Alabama State Troopers were there to spend some time with the children who may not make it home for the holidays this year.

During the visits, troopers left children at the hospital with cuddly teddy bears that can keep them company during their hospital stay.

State Trooper David Steward said they enjoy these visits as much as the kids do, and it’s a great opportunity to create an impression on today’s youth.

“We want them to know that we are the good guys,” Steward said. “We don’t want them to be scared of us. We want them to know that, hey, we’re just as friendly and human as their parents are. We have kids ourselves, ad we just try to put a smile on their face.”

Steward said handing out the bears is a 30-year tradition.
