STATE TROOPERS ARE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR THE HOLIDAYS

Today is one of the busiest travel days of the year, and the Alabama Law Enforcement Association is watching out for people on the road.

Alabama State Troopers will be out in force on the state’s interstates and highways between midnight tonight through Sunday at midnight. It’s unfortunate, but with the holidays comes an increase in people driving after drinking too much, said Alabama State Trooper Reginal King.

“Over the past five years, ALEA Troopers have averaged 39 driving under the influence arrests,” King said. That’s a lot of arrests, and 10% of crashes that we’ve investigated during that time included the use of alcohol.”

If you must get from Point A to Point B while intoxicated, King suggests appointing a designated driver before your holiday merriment begins.
