STATE-OF-THE-ART SENSORY SUITE TO OPEN AT UA’S RISE CENTER

Story by WVUA 23’s Hannah Hammonds.

The University of Alabama’s RISE Center broke ground Thursday on what will soon be a brand new sensory suite.

The RISE Center is a preschool that serves children with and without special needs.

The new sensory suite will include an infant classroom and multipurpose therapy room to help RISE serve even more special needs children in the Tuscaloosa community.

The new sensory room was made possible by a $500,000 donation from UA  alumnus Dana Garmany. The new facility will be named after Garmany’s grandson, Mason Ray Garmany.

“The more I learned about RISE, the more I wanted to be involved,” Garmany said. “Having a special needs grandson made the donation even more rewarding.”
