MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) – An Alabama lawmaker has proposed a bill to create a lottery and allow multiple casinos in the state. Introduced by Republican Sen. Greg Albritton on Thursday, the bill would authorize eight casinos with table games and online sports betting.
It would also allow two smaller sites with up to 300 slot machines. Albritton said the state is missing out on hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue each year.
The latest bill is similar to one state senators approved last year, but the measure failed in the House of Representatives.
