SPRAYBERRY EDUCATION CENTER USING ART SHOW FUNDS FOR MOVE

By WVUA 23 Student Reporter, Alexa Armstrong

TUSCALOOSA – The Northport Civic Center was filled with masterpieces Thursday, and they were all made by students of Sprayberry Education Center.

The 12th annual Art Show and Silent Auction has always been a favorite for students and community members, but this year it meant even more.

Since 1974, the Sprayberry Education Center has played a major role in the lives of students with special needs.

The growing success and student population has led to the need for more space.

The school is currently located on Rice Mine Road, but is moving to the former Lloyd Wood Middle School.

The new spot gives the school easier accessibility and will make tasks easier for students who require equipment like wheelchairs and walkers.

Thursday’s fundraiser, along with community support, has helped the school to be able to make this move.
