SPORTS TOURNAMENTS BRING BIG BUCKS TO TUSCALOOSA

Softball Beats Uga

It’s a busy week for sports in Tuscaloosa, as it’s currently playing host to the SEC Men’s Golf Championship and the SEC Track and Field Championships.

Alabama softball joins the list of sporting events this weekend when they host the NCAA Tuscaloosa Regional.

Tuscaloosa Tourism and Sports Commision’s Director of Sports Jay Kasten said all these events mean more visitors and more money making its way into T-Towns coffers.

“It’s probably a multi million dollar impact,” he said. “It’s not like they’re just here for the competition. They’ve been here for a few days already, getting ready, doing practice rounds and whatnot.”

According to the Commission, visitors spent nearly $500 million in Tuscaloosa County last year.
