Sokol Park will soon see some renovations and new walking trails, thanks in part to American Christian Academy’s cross country, track and field team.

ACA cross country coach Charles Tiller visited the Tuscaloosa County Commission Wednesday to discuss the school’s renovation plans, and how Sokol Park fits in with the nearby school.

Tiller said ACA isn’t the only local school using Sokol park for practice, but the school is funding a $24,000 three-stage renovation project that will make the park more easily usable by everyone.

“From American Christian Academy, we’re doing it all on our own,” Tiller said. “This is not something to benefit us, but we’re wanting to benefit the community. So any help that we possibly can have from these great gentleman here at the County Commission would be appreciated.”
