SNOW PREPARATIONS HAPPENING NOW

A snow storm on the horizon means many businesses are already getting ready.

Right now, traffic is moving smoothly on Skyland Boulevard but that could change in the next few hours.

The Alabama Department of Transportation says they are actively monitoring the weather. The interstate from the Mississippi line to Jefferson County has already been pre-treated.

They hope putting down this pre-treatment will help alleviate some of the concerns. This treatment will keep the ice from forming on the roads. They started this pre-treatment about 12 hours ago.

Once it starts to snow, drivers are urged to avoid travel until the roads are declared safe.
