SIX PEOPLE KILLED IN PLANE CRASH NEAR TUSCALOOSA AIRPORT

<p>A plane crash near the Tuscaloosa Regional Airport claimed the lives of six people on board.</p>

<p>At a joint press conference held near the site with Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox, Northport Mayor Bobby Herndon said the pilot issued a distress call and that the Tuscaloosa Fire and Rescue stationed at the airport were on the runway where the plane was set to land but the plane crashed into the Van De Graaff Park on Robert Cardinal Airport Road.</p><p>The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Department is leading the multi-jurisdictional investigation at this time.</p><p>The FAA and NTSB is on the way to the crash site as well.</p><p>No information on where the plane was from or where it was headed is being released at this time.</p><p>WVUA 23 has multiple crews at the scene and will bring you the latest as soon as it becomes available.</p><p> </p><p> </p>
