Tuscaloosa – A 17-year-old Tuscaloosa teen is behind bars and facing Attempted Murder charges after investigators say he shot his 20-year-old brother in the neck.

Captain Gary Hood with Tuscaloosa County Homicide said 17-year-old Landis Ward took two shots at his brother with a .22 rifle around 1 o’clock Monday afternoon at 621 33rd Street in Tuscaloosa. According to Hood, Ward was standing on the balcony when he opened fire. The second shot hit the 20-year-old victim in his neck.

Investigators described the victim’s injuries as critical. Witnesses told investigators the pair of brothers were fighting prior to the shooting.

Ward is being held in the Tuscaloosa County Jail pending a $60,000 bond..
