Sheriff’s Office searching for man accused of shooting dog

Dog Shot With Arrow

The Walker County Sheriff’s Office needs your help finding the man they believe is responsible for shooting a dog with a crossbow.

On. Nov. 3, the Walker County Humane Society rescued the dog found with an arrow lodged in its neck.

Upon a criminal investigation, sheriff’s deputies obtained an arrest warrant for Ralph Lynn Woods on an animal cruelty charge, said Walker County Sheriff’s Office Public Information Officer TJ Armstrong.

But the wounded pup already is well on its way to recovery.

“I spoke with someone earlier who was actually in the same room as the dog, and they said you wouldn’t be able to tell that the dog had even been shot,” Armstrong said. “According to reports from the veterinarian, the crossbow missed a lot of vital organs and arteries and things. The dog is expected to make a full recovery. He was jumping around and seems to be all right.”

Woods has not yet been located.

If you have any information about his whereabouts, or about this case that could help investigators, please call the Walker County Sheriff’s Office at 205-302-6464.
