SHELTON STATE, UNIVERSITY OF WEST ALABAMA TEAM UP FOR EDUCATION CENTER

Two local colleges have joined forces in launching the reopening of a higher education center.

Shelton State Community College and the University of West Alabama hosted a ribbon-cutting Tuesday, welcoming the Demopolis Education Center.

School officials said this will give residents and students and outlet for higher education.

A wide range of technology and general education courses will be available to students, and Shelton State President Andrea Mayfield said the state-owned center has a lot to offer.
