Shelton State replaces president with interim pick

Shelton State Community College today appointed Chris Cox as interim president, replacing Brad Newman. Newman began serving as SSCC’s president early last year.

Chancellor Jimmy H. Baker made the announcement today.

According to a news release, Cox currently serves as special assistant to the chancellor at the Alabama Community College System.

“Dr. Cox has proven to be an innovative and capable leader,” Baker said in the statement. “I am confident Chris will lead Shelton State well and provide great value to the college’s students, faculty, staff, and the Tuscaloosa-area community.”

Cox’s tenure at Shelton State Community College begins today.
