Shelton State president leaving for new job after 10 months

Shelton State Community College is looking for a new president less than one year after Chris Cox took on the role.
Cox has accepted job with the Alabama Community College System as the systemwide Vice Chancellor of Instruction, Research and Development. Cox plans to hold a news conference at Shelton State on Tuesday, June 20 to discuss the upcoming transitional plans. He’s remaining as president through mid-September, but an official presidential search begins June 20.
Dr. Cox has more than 30 years of K-12 and higher education administration experience. He became interim president of Shelton State on Feb. 10, 2022, the same day ACCS announced Brad Newman was leaving the position after 10 months on the job.
