Shelton State holds fundraiser for college students

TUSCALOOSA -Women around West Alabama donned their finest heels, flats, boots or sandals Thursday and headed to the Bryant Conference Center for the third annual Wine, Women and Shoes fundraiser in support of the Shelton State Community College Foundation.

The foundation provides scholarships for Shelton State students who are in need.

Foundation Director of Development and Event Chair Shannon Chandler said any dollar raised for scholarship money meets every goal they have.

“I just think that Shelton State Foundation is rooted in raising money for our students and our mission is to provide financial support in scholarships for the college and this is a wonderful opportunity to do that,” said Chandler.

With the help of local vendors and sponsors, the event offered plenty of shopping, wine tasting, live auctions and a fashion show.

Last year, the foundation raised a little more than $300,00 for student scholarships.
