SHELTON STATE BREAKS GROUND ON DEMOPOLIS DRIVER TRAINING FACILITY
Shelton State Community College broke ground today on their new truck driver training facility in Demopolis.
The $1 million expansion is an addition and enhancement to Shelton’s current program. The new site location was donated by the Demopolis Industrial Development Board, which is part of the Demopolis Chamber of Commerce.
A truck-driving school has been in the works for years, said Shelton State Interim President Dr. Cynthina Anthony, and her team can’t be happier.
“It will offer our students as well as our community an opportunity to have good, skilled training that’s needed in the area,” she said. “So our students will have the opportunity to get better jobs and to enhance their overall quality of life through those jobs. It will certainly mean advanced economic development for this region.”
Anthony said the facility is expected to be up and running by the end of the year.
