SHELBY CO. PLANE CRASH VICTIM IDENTIFIED
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) – Authorities in suburban Birmingham have identified a man who was killed in a small plane crash.
Shelby County Coroner Dana New revealed Monday that investigators used dental records to identify 38-year-old John Gary Wyatt of Vestavia Hills.
The single-engine aircraft Wyatt was flying crashed in Calera Thursday evening near the Shelby County airport after departing from the Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash. Investigators have said the plane was carrying one person and several people tried rushing to the scene to help but there was nothing they could do.
An obituary for Wyatt says he was married with two daughters. His funeral service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday at Briarwood Presbyterian Church.
