Alabama Power encourages everyone in the state to be ready for severe weather.

Whether it is strong winds, rain or a tornado, something that is often impacted by severe weather is your power.

“One of the main things you can do to make sure your devices are charged,”said Alabama Power Spokesperson Danielle Kimbrough.

Other than having your electronic devices fully charged, every household should have flashlights, extra batteries, a first aid kit and plans for loved ones who may require special medical attention.

Electrical professionals suggests keeping a generator on hand in case of a power outage and to make sure you use them properly.

Premiere Electrical Company Stephen Erik Roberts said, “If you have a generator that’s awesome just make sure you are not bringing your generator inside your home and make sure you are not directly wiring to your house circuits.”
