SECURITY FINDS LOADED GUN IN PASSENGER’S CARRY-ON BAG IN BIRMINGHAM

The Transportation Safety Administration says they found a loaded gun in a passenger’s carry-on bag this morning at the Birmingham Shuttlesworth International Airport.

The gun was confiscated and the passenger was escorted out by airport police. The TSA said the offender could be facing fines or jail time.

Firearms are in checked baggage on airplanes if they’re declared, unloaded and in a proper carrying case. It is illegal, however, to carry one onto a plane in carry-on luggage.

It’s the first firearm discovered in Birmingham by TSA officers this year.
