SECOND TUSCALOOSA FIREFIGHTER TESTS POSITIVE FOR COVID-19

Norfolk Southern are training more than 100 first responders between Oct. 10 and Oct. 12, 2017, in Tuscaloosa as part of its annual Operation Awareness and Response Program.

Tuscaloosa Fire Rescue today confirmed a second firefighter tested positive for COVID-19.

According to a news release, the firefighter is at home resting and is on paid administrative leave.

In all, 26 firefighters are on paid administrative leave and monitoring themselves for potential signs and symptoms of the virus.

The department’s response capability hasn’t changed, and the department is fully capable of responding to the community’s needs, the release said.
